Development of an English Language Book for Mathematics with Islamic Context for Prospective Mathematics Educators
Abstrak
Understanding and proficiency in English are essential for all prospective mathematics educators. This ability will certainly impact the quality of the learning process. Achieving this will undoubtedly require learning media that can be used to support educators' English and Mathematics skills. The fact is that the program of study does not yet have the necessary media available, so it is necessary to develop an English for Mathematics textbook with an Islamic context that is useful for familiarizing future teachers with contextual mathematical problems using an Islamic context. The development of this book uses the ADDIE development model with the aim of producing an English for Mathematics book that is valid, practical, and effective. Based on this development research process, a validation percentage of 90% was obtained, which means that the English for Mathematics book with an Islamic context is suitable for use without revision. The validation results for this book are in the very valid criteria. Meanwhile, the validation results for the practicality questionnaire obtained a validation percentage of 89.17%. The results of the practicality questionnaire validation are very valid. The practicality of this book is 94.46%, which is considered very practical. For the results of the evaluation question processing as a data source for the effectiveness of the book, it was found that the English book for mathematics with an Islamic context developed is effective. This is because the percentage of correct answers is higher than the percentage of incorrect answers. As for the mathematics questions at the junior high school level, 66.7% of students answered perfectly with the solution steps; 23.3% answered less than perfectly, and 10% answered imperfectly. Meanwhile, for the mathematics questions at the senior high school level, 60% of students answered perfectly with the solution steps; 33.3% answered less than perfectly, and the rest answered imperfectly
